MM College of Architecture Celebrated YOGA DAY on 21st June 2018

Yoga is a form of exercise that originated in ancient India and is practiced widely across the world today. Yoga not only enhances your physical strength but also contributes largely towards your mental health and spiritual growth.Looking at the popularity of yoga, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested at the UN Assembly that yoga be given a special day as it is beneficial for everyone and making it a world event would help in spreading awareness about its benefits.So, on 21st June 2015, World Yoga Day was observed for the first time across the world and has since been celebrated annually.

 

Marathwada Mitra Mandal’s College of Architecture (MMCOA) observed the International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2018. Principal Dr. Supriya Nene, welcomed all the teachers, students and non- teaching staff of the college and briefly outlined the objective of the International Yoga and also applauded the Government of India and the UGC in particular for encouraging all college students, faculty members to be yogi in the time serve of the term and for ensuring that the college is focused on dissemination and population of yoga among the stake holders of each college.

 

As MMCOA International Yoga Day commenced with few brief talks by local yoga experts followed by open forum or sessions the college in collaboration of local Art of Living, Pune chapter had presentation of various Yoga Assan.One unique feature of the program was that students and teachers in large numbers wholeheartedly participated in the program and many of them performed along with the guidance of Yoga experts.Considering our Architectural profession, she mentioned that Yoga not only keeps you fit but also has a lot of long-term benefits when one makes it an integral part of your lifestyle and increases the lifespan.
