Ar. Aniruddha Jogalekar on the five-year B.Arch programme and the tradition of MMCOA.
It gives me great pleasure to introduce the Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) programme, a five-year full-time degree course of Pune University, at Marathwada MitraMandal's College of Architecture, and to admit students from a wide range of backgrounds.
That outward-looking tradition still inspires us, extending beyond access to openness and innovation in education. This approach has brought MMCOA to the forefront of research, teaching and practice internationally.
MMCOA is the first unaided educational institute to start B.Arch degree courses, in 1985 under the University of Pune, and is also recognised by the Government of Maharashtra and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. More than 100 students have gone on to complete postgraduate courses at universities around the world after their B.Arch from MMCOA. Students are encouraged to take part in co-curricular activities, which serve as a central focus for a region-specific approach and indirect learning. MMCOA provides valuable extra facilities and builds a very strong base for students' future careers.
MMCOA is the first preference of meritorious students for First Year B.Arch admission, as the results show: its students consistently stand first in the university among all colleges under Pune University. I believe MMCOA is one of the finest places to study architecture in India.
